We're committed to addressing the most pressing challenges facing communities in western Uganda. Here are some of the initiatives we're currently working on.

Ndongo United Herbalists Association

Ndongo has trained 850 smallholder farmers in organic agriculture including vegetables and supporting them with food forests using agroecology principles and practices which encourages synergy between different farm elements and restores nutrients to degraded soil.

Skills development

Castor Oil Production: Castor production and processing is one of Ndonga’s primary projects. Ndongo has trained 150 farmers to grow castor organically and provides them with seeds. The farmers bring their castor harvest to Ndongo for sale. Ndongo purchases the castor seeds (thus ensuring that the farmers always have good market) and uses our oil press machine to process the castor seeds into safe, high-quality oil.Farmers have improved their income by 60% from 2022 to 2024 (based on the monitoring and evaluation tool that was developed in the year 2022).

Skill desvelopment

""For years, I struggled with recurring health issues and had limited access to modern healthcare. When I was introduced to herbal medicine through NUHA’s community training program, my life changed. I learned how to grow and use herbs like lemongrass, neem, and moringa right from my backyard. Not only have I seen real improvements in my health, but I’ve also been able to help my children with natural remedies for colds and stomach upsets. Herbal medicine is more than just treatment — it has restored our confidence in managing our own health using nature’s gifts.""
