NUHA BACK GROUND
Ndongo United Herbalists Association is a registered community-based organization found in Kasese district, mainly operating in the Rwenzori region of Uganda, with the mission of improving community health and livelihoods, especially among children, elderly and pregnant women. The organization was established in 2004 by a group of community members who realized that people were dying of diseases that were curable with locally grown herbal medicines. Ndongo began producing and selling herbal medicine to the community and used funds from sales to further improve community livelihood and health in innovative ways. Today, Ndongo’s programs include restoring forests through tree planting, training farmers on sustainable agriculture methods, promoting nutrition through home gardens and raising awareness on domestic violence.
